Prospective Graduate Students
Motivated and enthusiastic graduate students are always welcome to contact us about joining the lab to pursue either a Masters or Doctoral degree in the Department of Biology. I encourage students to pursue research ideas related to my own. Please see my research and publication pages for specifics on my research interests.
If interested, please email me a CV with the names and contact information for three references, and a written statement (~1-2 pages) that summarizes your current research interests, your academic and professional goals, and why you want to work with me. Prospective students intending to enroll in the fall term are encouraged to contact me 4-5 months before applications are due.
Prospective Undergraduate Students
My laboratory welcomes undergraduates interested in gaining research experience. UK offers two mentored research courses that students may take for degree credit: BIO 395 and BIO 398. Students interested in either course are encouraged to visit the Department of Biology’s website to learn more about each course. Students interested in completing an honors thesis are also welcome.
Preference is given to students who have a strong work ethic, an ability to commit at least 6 hours per week to research-related activity, and a willingness to commit to at least two semesters of work in the lab. Interested students should email me a current CV/resume listing any previous research experience, a list of completed collegiate science coursework, and brief description of why you want to work in the lab.
